MY
GREATEST DESIRE
I have loved
you with an everlasting love. Before the mountains were brought
forth, the azure blue sky, sparkling streams and lush green
valleys, I made plans for you. You are my special child, my
unique creation. I made no one else exactly like you.
Before I formed
you in your mother’s womb, I knew you and approved you
(Jeremiah 1:5). Your frame was not hidden from me. In my Book
all of the days of your life were written before they ever took
shape (Psalm 139:13-17). You are always on my mind. My thoughts
are ever toward you. As no sparrow falls to the ground without
my noticing it, so everything you do is under my watchful care
(Matthew 10:29-3l).
I see you at
work, at play, when you sit down, when you rise up. My angels
watch over you when you are deep in slumber. The very hairs of
your head I number each day. You are the apple of my eye. I have
given you gifts and talents unlike anyone else. Use them for my
glory and other people’s good.
Satan has told
you that I don’t love you, that you are forgotten. Can a
mother forget her sucking child? Would she not have compassion
on the son or daughter of her womb? Yes, some do forget, but I
will never forget you. Behold, I have engraved a picture of you
on the palms of my hands (Isaiah 49:14-16). It hurts me when you
ignore me and fail to spend time with me each day. I look
forward to it so much that I might strengthen you for each day’
s tests and trials.
I knew the
enemy would come to take you away from me through the
deceitfulness of sin, false teaching, and the persuasion of evil
men. Do not listen to them! I am the Son of God, begotten in the
bosom of the Father. I am the only Way to heaven, the only One
that loved you enough to pay the price for your sins. I am the
only One that COULD pay the price for your sins because I am the
Son of Man as well as the Son of God. The decision you make
concerning me will determine your eternal destiny.
As my Word
says, I suffered greatly for you (Isaiah 53) but it was worth
it. Why? MY GREATEST DESIRE is that you may know my love and
walk in it daily; that you may live with me forever and see my
glory. Your mansion that I designed just for you awaits your
coming. Your soul is worth more to me than all the treasure and
kingdoms of the world. That is why I went to such lengths to
save you. No one else can do what I have called you to do.
To defeat death
I had to take on death, that through death I might destroy him
that had the power of death, the devil. By doing this, I
delivered you from the fear of death that was enslaving you to a
lifetime of bondage (Hebrews 2:14-18). My Father explained to me
before the foundation of the world that His prize creation—man—made
in God’s own image, would turn his back upon his Maker. That I
must do what the first Adam failed to do—obey God in all
things. In the fullness of time, I came to earth and did only
what my Father told me to do. I said only what my Father told me
to say. He prepared me a Body that would be given as the
once-for-all sacrifice for the whole world (Hebrews 10:5). “
That whosoever believes in me should not perish but have
everlasting life (John 3:16).”
The Lord opened
my ear and I was not rebellious or turned backward. I gave my
back to the smiters, and my cheeks to those who plucked out my
beard.
I hid not my
face from shame and spitting (Isaiah 50:5-6). I was poured out
like water, and all my bones were out of joint. My heart was
like wax. My strength dried up like a fragment of clay pottery.
With thirst, my tongue cleaved to my jaws. I could count all my
bones as the evildoers gazed at me.
They pierced my
hands and my feet. They cast lots for my garments (Psalm 22). I
died that you might live. My life’s blood was poured out that
you might have eternal life…that you might know the great love
that I have for you.
My soul
descended into the lower parts of the earth… into hell itself
(Ephesians 4:9). I suffered the pains of death, separation from
God, so that you would not have to go through such a terrible
thing. How horrible it was but I did it for you. I knew that my
Father would not leave my soul in hell, neither would He allow
His Holy One to see corruption (Acts 2:27).
Father raised
me up as foretold by David. My resurrection was confirmed by
many witnesses over a 40-day period (Acts 1:3). I ascended into
heaven and am seated as the Right Hand of the Father, exalted as
Lord and Christ. I ever live to pray for you daily.
I am coming
soon (Revelation 22:20) to set up my earthly Kingdom. I want you
to reign with me forever. Repent of your sins…turn from them
and to me. Invite my Spirit into your life and confess me as
Lord and Saviour (Romans 10:9-10). Get baptized (Mark 16:16) and
go weekly to a Bible-believing church (Hebrews 10:25). I do not
want to have to tell you one day, “Be gone from Me, you
cursed, into eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels”
(Matthew 25:41), but “Come,
you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you
from the foundation of the world” (Matthew 25:34).
